ELISABETH portrays my daughter during the New Year celebrations of 2026, capturing an intimate family moment at the threshold between one year and the next.
Inspired by Matisse's radical use of colour, it participates actively in defining Elisabeth's presence.
The New Year setting gives the portrait a sense of transition: childhood moving toward adulthood, the past giving way to the future, and a private family memory becoming a lasting image. The work is therefore both a portrait of my daughter and a portrait of a moment in time.
ELISABETH is both an intimate family portrait and a universal celebration of love, tradition, and the timeless beauty found in ordinary moments. It reminds us that the greatest gifts of Christmas are not material, but the people with whom we create our most meaningful memories.
